“Nematicons: from soliton physics to soliton photonics in nematic liquid crystals “

Prof. Assanto is internationally recognized scientist, co-author of several publications in top scientific journals, top researcher in area of nematicons, physics of liquid crystals and nonlinear optics. He will give an overview on his research in the area of spatial solitary waves in reorienting media, generation of nematicons and their applications in all-optical communication and optical computing systems. This lecture is given in the framework of The University’s Integrated Development Programme (ZIP).
