The equations governing cloud dynamics are intractable except by numerical methods. These methods are based on spatial and temporal discretizations, that create a distinction between resolved and unresolved scales of motion. In this talk, I discuss a hybrid Eulerian-Lagrangian numerical method, where the Eulerian component treats the resolved scales, while the Lagrangian component represents processes at unresolved scales and their impact on the resolved ones. The scheme is well-known and widely applied in turbulent combustion flow research.
