Konwersatorium im. Jerzego Pniewskiego i Leopolda Infelda FUW

Oct. 24, 2022, 10:30 a.m., ul. Pasteura 5

On Monday, October 24, 2022, at 10.30 AM, the first in this academic year, the Jerzy Pniewski and Leopold Infeld Colloquium of the Faculty of Physics will be held in room 0.06. Our guest will be Professor Marek Żukowski from the University of Gdańsk. He will give a lecture entitled: "The 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics".

This year, the Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to A. Aspect, J. F. Clauser, and A. Zeilinger for their research on quantum entanglement. Quantum entanglement has been the centre of Prof. M. Żukowski's interest since the beginning of his research work. Together with Prof. A. Zeilinger, he has published dozens of papers. The first of these was published in 1985. The last joint paper so far, entitled "The essence of entanglement," dates from October 2021 and has managed to get 59 citations to date. So during the planned lecture, we will have the opportunity to learn about the field of physics, which was recognized this year by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, from a unique perspective.

Before the Colloquium, at 10 AM, we invite you to informal discussions over coffee and cookies in the hall in front of room 0.06.
