On Tuesday, April 15 at 6:00 PM, Prof. Jean-Sébastien Caux from the University of Amsterdam will give a lecture as part of the "Ask a Physicist" series, titled "The pursuit of exactness in quantum physics."
Prof. Jean-Sébastien Caux works on low-dimensional quantum condensed matter at the University of Amsterdam. His research focuses on applying advanced, non-perturbative theoretical methods to strongly correlated systems relevant to problems in magnetism, cold atoms, and quantum nanostructures.
After completing his undergraduate studies in Montreal, Jean-Sébastien Caux moved to Oxford, where he received his PhD in 1998. Following a postdoctoral fellowship in Vancouver, he returned to Oxford as a Fellow of All Souls College, and in 2003 he became a professor at the University of Amsterdam. He is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including an NWO Vici grant and an ERC Advanced Grant.
Prof. Caux actively promotes open access publishing in science and is actively involved in building systems that support it. He is the founder and president of SciPost, a non-profit foundation offering an open-access publication platform at scipost.org.
