In the incoming Journal Club (22nd Nov, 3 PM) we have the following agenda:
1. I (Grzegorz Florczyk) will present a study by
Grachev,A.A. et al.
SHEBA flux–profile relationships in the stable atmospheric boundary layer. Boundary-Layer Met. 124, 315–333 (2007).
I encourage you to glance over the paper before the meeting! See you on Tuesday!
The Journal Club is a popular type of biweekly discussion meeting. Willing participants present new research/publications/analyses that are interesting from their point of view. A short presentation is followed by a discussion, during which one can express opinions, and comments, ask questions, etc. After the discussion, the meeting ends or another person presents the publication.
What is the purpose of the Journal Club? There are a couple of them:
To become more aware of what our colleagues' scientific interests are.
To become better acquainted with the latest developments in our field.
To boost motivation to keep up to date with current literature (mainly for early-stage academics).
