"ACTRIS-A pro CAMS" Provision of ACTRIS Aerosol Observations - (Profiles) CAMS 21b phase I / phase II

A pilot NRT provision of ACTRIS/EARLINET lidar-derived aerosol optical properties profiles to CAMS will be introduced. Setting up this service required the implementation of new solutions for automation of data processing, transfer and quality control with the aim of improving the retrievability of data products in NRT. In particular, optimized algorithms for cloud screening have been designed. Moreover, additional procedures for improving the quality of NRT Level 2 data products (delivered after 6-months) were implemented. The pilot data provision started in October 2020 at the test site in Potenza. In January 2021, the provision started for a group of 9 stations located over Europe, thus considered representative of the entire ACTRIS/EARLINET network.
RS-Lab provided NRT data of the PollyXT lidar form 1 January till 30 September 2021 (phase I of project: 01/01/2021 - 31/12/2021). Currently, the provision of the RS-Lab data to CAMS is set on a long-term (phase II of project: 01/10/2023 - 30/09/2028).
