Observations from the Radiation Transfer Laboratory platform
Meteo-station
In the Radiation Transfer Laboratory (LTR) we conduct measurements of optical and microphysical properties of atmospheric aerosols and clouds, as well as components of radiation fluxes and sensible and latent heat fluxes at the Earth's surface. Current observations carried out from the platform are presented below.
The platform is located on the roof of the building of the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw, at ul. Pasteura 5. The installed instruments include, i.a.: optical and radiometric instruments, satellite data receiver, an air inlet, and a weather station. The measurements are transmitted to a database on an ongoing basis and processed in the laboratory.
Charts are updated every 10 minutes, videos every 60 minutes.

24 h/7 sky view (live)
Cameras installed on the LTR platform record a continuous view of the sky in four directions of the world, in UTC time. The local time in Poland is accordingly: UTC + 01: 00 (CET) in winter and UTC + 02: 00 (CEST) in summer. Data is saved and archived in the laboratory (LTR).
24h/7 sky view
Cameras installed on the LTR platform also take pictures of the sky in four directions of the world, in UTC time. The local time in Poland is accordingly: UTC + 01: 00 (CET) in winter and UTC + 02: 00 (CEST) in summer. Data is saved and archived in the laboratory (LTR).
360 ° sky view
A wide angle lens camera is also installed on the LTR platform, recording the view of the entire sky on an ongoing basis. Data collected by this camera is primarily used to determine the degree of cloud cover during the day and night.
Air temperature and pressure
Average minute temperature values in °C and atmospheric pressure in hPa, measured using the WXT520 weather station installed on the LTR platform. Gray lines mean daily air temperature waveforms, recorded on the same day in subsequent years from 2008. Atmospheric pressure has been reduced to the sea level.
Relative humidity and water vapour pressure
Average minute relative humidity values in% and water vapour pressure in hPa, measured using the WXT520 weather station installed on the LTR platform.
Precipitation
Precipitation intensity in mm/h and a daily sum of precipitation in mm counted from 00:00 UTC. Data are measured using disdrometer installed on the LTR platform. The disdrometer uses a laser counter to register the size and speed of raindrops as well as other component particles of the precipitation.
Wind speed and direction
Average minute values of wind speed in m/s and wind direction in the range of 0-360 °, measured using an ultrasonic sensor of the WXT520 wheather station, installed on the LTR platform.
Short- and longwave radiation
Average minute values of the shortwave and longwave radiation in W/m2, reaching the earth's surface. Shortwave and longwave radiation is measured by the CM22 pyranometer and the CNR4 pyrgeometer, respectively. Both instruments are installed on the LTR platform. Shortwave radiation, i.e. solar radiation, contains diffuse component (solid green line) and total component (solid blue line). Dashed blue and green lines mean total and diffuse radiation obtained using a radiation transfer model for a cloudless sky.
