Assistant in Institute of Geophysics

We seek a candidate with a proven research record of high quality publications in the area of numerical and/or laboratory modeling of geological/geophysical processes on Earth and other planetary bodies.

A candidate should have Ph.D. degree in physicscal sciences and education record in geophysics. Additional education or documented experience in geology is an additional advantage.

From the successful applicant we expect:

  1. innovative research compatible to that conducted at the Department of Physics of Lithosphere, in particular aimed at modeling of geophysical/geological processes on Earth and other planetary bodies using numerical and laboratory methods;
  2. activity in applications for research funding;
  3. activity in promotion and popularization of geophysical studies at the Faculty of Physics.

Teaching duties:

  1. Succesfull applicant will teach at tha Faculty of Physics as assistant professor. The teaching duties are at the level of 210 hours per academic year. In particular we expect teaching of applied geophysics using geophones and magnetometers.
  2. She or he will have the ability to teach effectively, both at undergraduate and graduate levels, and excellent interpersonal skills for undertaking tutorial teaching. She or he will work to account for recent advances in science in teaching.

Additional preferences:

basic experience witk criogenic and vacuum chambers.

We offer full-time 30 months long job  contract.   Research, teaching and organizational activities of the successful candidate will be regularly evaluated according to the law.

Beginning of the contract: October 1st, 2018.
