Professor in Institute of Geophysics

The candidates have to conform to the conditions stated in art. 109 of Higher Education Law dated 27.07.2005. (uniform text: Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland 2016, item 1842 with further amendments).

We seek a candidate for a research group leader at the Information Optics Department at Institute of Geophysics (Faculty of Physics, Univ. of Warsaw), in the field of photonics and optometry.

We seek a candidate with a D.Sc (habilitation) degree in physics or equivalent experience confirmed by independent reviewers. The candidate should have a strong research record within the  the field of photonics and/or fiber optics. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence in both introductory and advanced courses in his degree discipline and succesfull graduation of at least one PhD. He/she is also expected to present a research plan accounting for the equipment alnd laboratories at the  Information Optics Department.

The teaching duties are at the level of 210 hours per academic year.

We offer full-time job unlimited contract. Research, teaching and organizational activities of the successful candidate will be regularly evaluated according to the law.

The requirements:

  1. D.Sc (habilitation) degree in physics or equivalent experience confirmed by independent reviewers;
  2. succesfull graduation of at least one PhD.

Expectations:

  1. A strong research record within the  the field of photonics and/or fiber optics, in initiation and conducting experimental research, experience in work a s a team leader;
  2. Ideas to undertake new research tasks, a research plan accounting for the equipment of the  Information Optics Department;
  3. Activity in applications for research funding;
  4. Experience in teaching and supervision of students.

The candidate should provide the following documents:

  2. CV with contact details;
  3. copy of the PhD diploma;
  4. list of publications with two most important;
  5. two recommendation letters from senior researchers who know the candidate. These letters should be confidential and mailed directly to the Dean of the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw;
  6. the tentative acceptance of the proposed research plans by the Head of the Information Optics Division in the Institute of Geophysics (Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw) in which the candidate is expected to work.

The entire procedure will be concluded before June 6, 2018. The candidate might be asked for an interview with the commission appointed by the Dean of the Faculty.
