Description of project 

ACTRIS (Aerosol, Clouds, and Trace Gases Research Infrastructure) - the leading pan-European Research Infrastructure (RI) dedicated to the observation and understanding of short-lived atmospheric constituents and their interactions.

The ACTRIS NEXT project is crucial to ACTRIS. It aims at ensuring international leadership in the atmospheric science via enhanced interoperability, expanded membership, and active participation in global observation systems. ACTRIS NEXT consolidates and expands ACTRIS capacity to address societal challenges and adaptability to emerging needs, while ensuring long-term sustainability, agile operational efficiency and pan-European relevance. ACTRIS NEXT will enhance Europe’s ability to respond to critical societal challenges in the areas of human health and well-being, environmental risk resilience and renewable energy production and energy transition via development and demonstration of new services co-designed with end-users.

Remuneration 

Approximate remuneration (EC grant) PLN 143 000 brutto-brutto/year (includes basic remuneration, supplementary remuneration, the additional annual remuneration (13th), allowance for years of service, employer costs in accordance with regulations).

Basic responsibilities and obligations

Work within the project in WP5 - ACTRIS Community Engagement:

  • efficient use of the scientific knowledge of the ACTRIS community to develop new measurement technologies, using as example ACTRIS-Poland stations;
  • generating, analyzing, sharing, and utilizing ACTRIS data to improve the visibility of ACTRIS scientific resources and the functionality of ACTRIS database, on example of ACTRIS-Poland measurements;
  • collecting information, exchanging experiences, and preparing materials related to the needs of ACTRIS Community (with a focus on young scientists and users) to upskill staff qualifications through dedicated trainings;
  • preparing draft of deliverable D5.1: "Planning large-scale campaigns and experiments. Selected campaigns and experiments in which ACTRIS plans to participate: objectives, schedule, and resources."
  • co-developing an integration program implementation plan.
  • contributing to the organization of workshop for young ACTRIS ambassadors.
  • actively participating in discussions, workshops, and project meetings (in person and/or remotely);
  • publication of work results in top scientific journals;
  • presentation of results at scientific conferences;

Conditions for entering the competition
  • Fulfilment of the requirements set out in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, consolidated text)
  • The candidate must have a doctoral degree (PhD) at the start of the employment;
  • experience in analyzing ACTRIS data or similar;
  • experience in synergistic analyses of measurement data (in-situ and/or remote);
  • fluency in written and spoken English;
  • ability to use MS Office, LaTeX, Origin or MATLAB or Python;
  • documented experience in reporting research and preparing materials for scientific publications;
  • documented experience in organizational work (e.g. organizing conferences or trainings)
  • significant scientific achievements
  • preparing a plan for further research activities
  • international experience
The person employed for this position must have a doctoral degree obtained no earlier than 3 years before the year of employment in the project. This period does not include breaks related to maternity leave, additional maternity leave, leave on the conditions of maternity leave, additional leave on the conditions of maternity leave, paternity leave, or parental leave granted on the terms specified in the provisions of the Labor Code or the receipt of sickness allowance or rehabilitation benefits in connection with incapacity for work, including those caused by diseases requiring medical rehabilitation. For women, the indicated 3-year period may be extended by 18 months for each child born or adopted. A woman can choose a more favorable way to indicate breaks in her scientific career.
In addition, we expect
  • willingness to cooperate and transfer knowledge to other team members;
  • ability to work in a team and as an independent researcher.
Criteria for the assessment of candidates in a
competition

Each member of the selection committee evaluates each candidate by awarding points in three categories:

  • scientific achievements, including publications in reputable scientific publications/journals (max. 40 points)
  • achievements resulting from the conduct of scientific research, scholarships, awards and scientific experience gained at home or abroad, scientific workshops and training, participation in research projects (max. 40 points)
  •  competence to carry out specific tasks in the research project (max. 20 pts.)

Total to obtain: 100 points from each committee member. The candidate who meets the entry requirements and obtains the highest number of points, not less than 60% of the total possible points, will win.

Stages of competiton The competition consists of the following stages:
– Stage I - formal evaluation of documents,
– Stage II - substantive evaluation on the basis of submitted documents,
– Stage III - interview with selected candidates ,
– Stage IV - final evaluation of competence, experience and scientific achievements,
– Stage V - adjudication of the competition and announcement of results.
