DESCRIPTION (field, expectations, comments):

The candidates have to conform to the conditions stated in art. 113 of Higher Education Law dated 20.07.2018 (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland 2021, item 478).

We seek a candidate for adjunct professor to join the Institute of Geophysics, Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw.

We expect that the candidate will offer a research program in the field of nonlinear fiber optics, functionalization of optical fibers or optofluidics, in accordance to research agenda of the research group “Structured optics and optofluidics” at the Institute.

Duties of the successful candidate will include 210 hours (per academic year) of teaching at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw.

Scientific, teaching and organizational activities of the employee will be a subject of regular periodic evaluation.

The opening is tenure track, the period of the contract is 30 month with possible indefinite extension after evaluation.

The contract shall begin on Oct. 1st 2022.

The requirements:

Necessary conditions required from applicants are:

  1. a minimum of doctorate (PhD) in strict science or engineering (DSc or habilitation will be preferred),
  2. documented, by participation in projects, experience in science; experience in independent leading of a research group and in realization of projects will be preferred,
  3. documented teaching experience and research experience (experience in modelling and experimental work in scope of nonlinear fiber optics will be preferred),
  4. international experience (preferred internship abroad, required visible activity at an international scale).

In addition, from a successful candidate we expect:

  1. documented, significant track record of scientific publications and achievements valuable for the research group “Structured optics and optofluidics” at the Institute of Geophysics,
  2. submitting of research plans in the field of nonlinear fiber optics, functionalization of optical fibers or optofluidics, accounting for this research group’s agenda.

The decision will be taken not later than 31 May 2022. The candidate may be asked for a qualification interview with the commission appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Physics. The candidates will be informed individually.
