Summary of the scientific conference Visual and Physiological Optics Meeting (VPO24)
On 29–30 August 2024, the optometric team from the UW Faculty of Physics participated in the highly regarded scientific conference Visual and Physiological Optics Meeting (VPO24), held in Wrocław, Poland. Active participants were (in alphabetical order): Marlena Bobrowska, MSc (‘Differences between body posture parameters in children aged 7-11 with and without astigmatism’), Oliwia Kaczkoś, MSc (‘Two-photon vision and its contrast sensitivity function of the human eye’), Justyna Kiermasz, PhD ("Diurnal refraction, corneal curvature and tear film break-up time changes in computer and non-computer workers‘), Tomasz Suliński, MSc (’Visualisation of Lipid Deposition and Absorption in Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lenses Using Spinning Disc Confocal Microscopy"). The presentations and posters were good-naturedly watched by Prof. Jacek Pniewski, who had a supervisory involvement in all topics. Ms Kaczkoś won the prize Student Award for Best Presentation from Optica Vision Technical Group for her presentation at the conference.
Optometry is no longer just a field of study, led by the staff of the IGF FUW Photonics Department, but also a growing scientific activity at the highest level.
